Decision Making as Output and Bounded Rationality

The classical economics theories proceed on the assumption of rational agents. Rationality implies the economic agents undertake actions or exercise choices based on the cost-benefit analysis they undertake. The assumption further posits that there exists no information asymmetry and thus the agent is aware of all the costs and benefits associated with the choice he or she has exercised. The behavioral school contested the decision stating the decisions in practice are often irrational. Implied there is a continuous departure from rationality. Rationality in the views of the behavioral school is more an exception to the norm rather a rule. The past posts have discussed the limitations of this view by the behavioral school. Economics has often posited rationality in the context in which the choices are exercised rather than theoretical abstract view of rational action. Rational action in theory seems to be grounded in zero restraint situation yet in practice, there are numerous restra

The Diminishing Returns of Woke

Roger Scruton who passed away recently had a reputation for being eternally politically incorrect. Individual preferences are an outcome of several factors. In theory, the right of free speech mandates the protection of these preferences unless it encroaches through a process of physical or mental harm the exercise of preferences of another individual.   In the context, individual could mean group too, an aggregate of all individual preferences in that group. Yet private preferences when expressed in public often create a storm because ostensibly they are not deemed to be views of educated, polished, cultural, literate person. To exhibit one’s literacy, polishness, education etc. individuals are expected to rise above narrow strata of thought, parade their cognizance of the injustices apparent or real across the world around them and must be seen to stand for the alleged victims of these professed injustices being meted out. This is something has come to be termed in popular circles

Political Bodyline of the Indian Left Liberal

The authoritative verdict of 2019 meant that post Nehru 1957, PM Modi was the first to win a back to back elections with increase in both seats and vote share. To the edifice fabricated at connexions of Marx, Nehru and Mohammad, the shock magnitude was high. The follow up surgical strikes in Article 370, Ayodhya judgment and grant of accelerated citizenship to persecuted religious minorities seemed insult to injury.   Faced with an existential crisis, it was inevitable to see a spill-over of emotions onto the street, the outcome being full view in the last month and half or so.   While Mamta was first off the block vowing to prevent CAA being implemented in her state, the competitive pursuit ensured Kerala go a step forward to have its assembly pass a resolution opposing the implementation of CAA. Many other states opposition states have joined the rhetoric notwithstanding CAA is central subject and states have no role in the same. Contrast to Tukde Tukde slogans in the previous JNU

Urdu and Anti-Establishmentarians: Dominant Strategy?

Anti-establishmentarian rhetoric in India habitually conjures Urdu imagery and artistry. The same can be conceivably ascribed to the fact the rhetoric is an amalgamation of Islamic revivalism in attempts to reclaim its socio-political veto, Marxism ceaselessly in quest of a villain (Modi-Shah as new bourgeoisie) subduing the proletariat (Islam) and Nehruvian posterities unable to come to terms with the loss of power and privileges associated thereof and amplified by the Indian media cacophony. As I cited in Why Elitism Flourishes? http://stalkingtheory.blogspot.com/2019/12/why-elitism-flourishes.html , clubs once formed are protectionist but barriers to entry are formidable with connections not merit defining the benchmarks for admission. Foot soldiers desire to enter upper layers of the elite pyramid and therefore thus a need on their part to demonstrate their eligibility. Implied is using certain signals in conveying their utility to the apex. The competition however is harsh

WaPo and the White Man's Burden

Protests against the Citizens Amendment Act might be the harbinger of the last stand in the civilizational battles between decadent Nehru-Marxian intellectual complex and the emergent mass Hindu resurgence. The intellectual public sphere sees every policy move of Modi 2.0 as another nail in their coffin. Nehru-Marxian post-independent narrative with the ostensible aim is to deracinate the Indian psyche is being dared like never before. Current violent manifestations are pointers towards a rear guard battle being waged by the erstwhile establishment self-styled public intellectuals. Given the high stakes for Nehru-Marxian establishment, a virtual existential battle, it turning uglier should not surprise us. The Indic psyche seems to be waking up from the long sufferings of Stockholm syndrome arising of long years of Islamic invasions followed by British rule. The first signs of the challenge emerged around the early 1980s, imaginably in part as reaction to Meenakshipuram conversi
