Decision Making as Output and Bounded Rationality

  The classical economics theories proceed on the assumption of rational agents. Rationality implies the economic agents undertake actions or exercise choices based on the cost-benefit analysis they undertake. The assumption further posits that there exists no information asymmetry and thus the agent is aware of all the costs and benefits associated with the choice he or she has exercised. The behavioral school contested the decision stating the decisions in practice are often irrational. Implied there is a continuous departure from rationality. By the time he completes a year in office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would have visited about 20 countries with significant success.   From vigorous promotion of Make in India to reconnecting with the diaspora to taking further steps in ending nuclear isolation to regaining the lost ground in the Indian Ocean region to rediscovering our neighbors, to restoring investor confidence in the Indian economy, towards projecting Indian soft power, Modi’s visits have all these and more.   Yet, in some quarters, these recurrent visits are treated with derision.    In a broad sense, Modi doctrine seeks integrating geopolitics and geoeconomics into a possible geostrategic doctrine.
